THE WEIRS

Having completed the Crummock Water Project of 2023 and compiled the images into both a digital post and a printed book, I soon realised there was a compelling sub-project nestled within the broader collection of images that I am eager to pursue further.

This new focus has evolved into what I now refer to as The Weirs Project.

My aim is to continue developing this initiative by creating fresh work, while also drawing upon my extensive archive of historical images collected over the past decade of visits to the lake.

This ongoing project will persist until, if and when, United Utilities receive authorisation to dismantle the weirs located at the northern end of Crummock Water and begin the process of restoring the area to its original, natural state.

I anticipate that the collection will principally consist of intimate and more abstract images, focusing on the water and its flow over the weirs. However, I will also include a selection of photographs taken from a wider perspective to capture the weirs in their entirety. This broader view will allow the viewer to gain a clearer sense of the place and its overall setting within the surrounding landscape.
